Title:
I cannot find My database file on Vista or Windows 7


Overview:
When running CARCare on Windows® Vista or Window 7, the operating system may actually store your database in a "VirtualStore" folder, completely different from the normal C:\Program Files\CARCare folder where you would you expect it to be stored. This is normal behavior.
 
In order to view and access this path you will need to use Windows Explorer to navigate to the "C:\Program Files\CARCare" folder, and then click the "
Compatibility" button in the upper portion of the Explorer window. You will then see the VirtualStore folder path where your database file is stored, which will resemble the path below:

  • Desktop/yourusername/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files/CARCare

 
Alternate Method:
You can change this default behavior by following the steps below. Your database will then be located in the "C:\Program Files\CARCare" folder as it was on prior versions of Windows.

  • Close CARCare

  • Right-click on the CARCare icon

  • Choose Properties

  • Click the Compatibility tab

  • Check the box labeled Run this program as an administrator

  • Click OK
